More and more do it yourself projects for saving energy keep popping up. This is excellent and very inexpensive. A bit more investment would allow it to look a bit better. I think I would want something additional to allow me to turn the exchange on/off to limit the exchange. That, however, would be very easy to create and you could even make it ornamental.

Now, that is a cool tool. Looking at work on a home, this would be an excellent method for getting the exact angle measurements for various projects.

Not quite as cool as the Living Wall, but it is still a useful way to add greenery to your home without taking up too much floor space.

It seems our gadgets are slowly adding up. Even as our homes are getting larger, we seem to have more to organize. I like the simple idea of a hook and a small bowl to hold items. I know I carry a set number of things with me on a regular basis. Wallet, sunglasses, keys and my watch (which I take off when I’m in the home since there is almost always a clock within sight) can add up to some serious table space.
Hook box would mean I could store all of those items in a central location to load in pockets or jacket before heading back out.

How to Build Better Storage in Your Home - 7 Tips to Utilize Your Wasted Spaces - Popular Mechanics
I’m a big fan of methods for minimizing/simplifying and a part of that is finding space for things so they don’t take up the area you move in or clutter your visual space. If you’re handy, or know someone handy, there are also two designs for using lost space as a place to store equipment.
While seeing a home for sale last week, I was standing in the living room looking through the windows into the kitchen of the house next door. What’s in your kitchen?
When these popped up on the Home Inspiration blog I originally ignored it. But, as many thoughts do, I eventually realized the link between a decorative design which would let light in (more than curtains might) and protect your privacy.
Hmmm…don’t let the title throw you. Nothing X-rated here. Just an interesting design for us gadget users. Maybe Ana and I need a his and hers set in the new house for our Treos. Now, if they’ll come out with some form of swappable power adapter for the pocket (iPod, cell phone, etc…), you could put them in your place and free up desk space.
Yeah, blogging something like this even makes me feel like a major geek right now…

While the bed designs are nice, I find the bedroom designed around the beds just as useful. Worth a quick look for some ideas for space-saving bedrooms.

Homes certainly benefit from some organic shapes to contrast all of the blocky objects humans create. This is a nice idea for homes which need some organic shapes but don’t have room for big plants. Since the homes we’re looking at seem to be on the smaller side than what we had in Richmond, I like this idea quite a bit. A few plants in the right places could make all the difference.

Interesting design. I especially like the way it looks when not in use. Considering how many books I own, I don’t think it is all that useful. But, it does make me wonder about creating a larger version for use in different parts of the house. An interesting design which changes to a useful surface when necessary.
